Sportverein Werder Bremen von 1899 e. V., commonly known as Werder Bremen, is a historic German football club based in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. Established on 4 February 1899, the club has a rich tradition in German football, competing in the Bundesliga, Germany’s top football division. Werder Bremen has won the German championship four times and the DFB-Pokal six times. Their most notable achievements include winning the 2003-04 Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double, as well as securing the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1991-92. The team has been a consistent force in German football, ranking third in the all-time Bundesliga table. Werder Bremen’s home matches are played at the iconic Weserstadion, a venue they’ve called home since 1909. The club shares a fierce rivalry with Hamburger SV, known as the Nordderby. Currently, the team is led by head coach Ole Werner.
