Seattle Sounders

Seattle Sounders FC is an American professional men’s soccer club based in Seattle, Washington. Competing in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference, the Sounders were established on November 13, 2007, and began play in 2009 as an expansion team. They are considered a phoenix club, inheriting the name and some heritage of earlier Seattle Sounders teams that played in various leagues from 1974 to 2008. The Sounders are known for their passionate fan base, which includes a 53-member marching band called “Sound Wave” and several organized supporter groups. They play their home matches at Lumen Field, which has a reduced capacity of 37,722 for most games. The team has a strong rivalry with the Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps FC, competing for the Cascadia Cup.
