Club Sport Marítimo, commonly known as Marítimo, is a Portuguese professional football club based in Funchal, Madeira. Established in 1910, the club has a rich history, most notably for its football team, which played for 38 consecutive years in the Primeira Liga before being relegated to Liga Portugal 2 after the 2022–23 season. Marítimo has a dedicated fan base known as the Maritimistas. The club’s achievements include winning the Campeonato de Portugal in 1926, making them one of the few teams from Madeira to claim a national title. They have also been runners-up in both the Taça de Portugal and Taça da Liga twice. In addition to domestic success, Marítimo has participated in the UEFA Cup/Europa League nine times, with their best performance coming in the 2012–13 season. The club is also notable for its presence in multiple sports, including volleyball, handball, and athletics.
