Real Club Celta de Vigo, commonly known as Celta Vigo, is a Spanish professional football club based in Vigo, Galicia. Founded in August 1923 following the merger of Real Vigo Sporting and Real Fortuna, the club competes in La Liga, Spain’s top football division. Celta’s home ground is BalaÃdos, with a capacity of 24,870 seats. The club’s name reflects the region’s Celtic heritage, and their nickname, Os Celestes (The Sky Blues), reflects their blue-and-white colors. Celta has a notable rivalry with Deportivo La Coruña, known as the Galician derby. Despite their historical success, Celta has not won a league title or Copa del Rey but achieved their best-ever league finish of fourth in 2002–03. They reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League in 2016–17 and co-won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2000.
