Founded on May 1, 1925, by Spanish immigrant Eutimio Pérez, the club is renowned for its dominance in Ecuadorian football, having won the Serie A title a record 16 times, with their most recent triumph in 2020. They also hold six regional titles and were the first Ecuadorian team to reach the Copa Libertadores finals. Known for their fierce rivalry with Emelec, their matches are famously dubbed “El Clásico del Astillero.” The club plays at Estadio Monumental Banco Pichincha, Ecuador’s largest stadium.
