Atlanta United FC, founded in 2014 and debuting in Major League Soccer in 2017, is an American professional soccer team based in Atlanta. The club competes in the Eastern Conference and plays at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, shared with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. Owned by Arthur Blank, co-founder of The Home Depot, Atlanta United quickly made a mark in MLS, winning the MLS Cup in their second season (2018) under coach Gerardo Martino. Known for setting attendance records, the team is a significant player in the league. In 2024, Forbes valued Atlanta United as the second most valuable MLS franchise at $900 million.
