Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz, based in Salt Lake City, compete in the NBA’s Western Conference Northwest Division. Originating as the New Orleans Jazz in 1974, the team relocated to Utah in 1979. Initially struggling, the Jazz found success in the 1990s with John Stockton, Karl Malone, and coach Jerry Sloan, reaching the NBA Finals in 1997 and 1998 but losing to the Chicago Bulls. Post-Stockton and Malone, the Jazz briefly excelled under Deron Williams before a restructuring period. With the rise of Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, the Jazz had a top regular-season record in 2021. Following their trades in 2022, they are rebuilding around All-Star Lauri Markkanen.
