Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins, based in the Miami metropolitan area, are a professional football team competing in the NFL’s AFC East division. Founded in 1966 by attorney Joe Robbie and actor Danny Thomas, the Dolphins were one of the first professional teams in the Southeast and remain Florida’s oldest sports team. Their early years in the AFL included training at Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton before the 1970 AFL-NFL merger brought them into the NFL. The Dolphins play their home games at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, a suburb north of Miami. Known for their loyal fan base and rich history, the Dolphins are the only AFC East team that was not a founding AFL member. The team has seen numerous successes, including the historic 1972 undefeated season, a record that still stands. Today, under owner Stephen M. Ross and head coach Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins continue to strive for NFL excellence.
