The Jacksonville Jaguars, established in 1995 as an NFL expansion team, are based in Jacksonville, Florida. The franchise competes in the American Football Conference (AFC) South division. Initially part of the AFC Central, they moved to the AFC South in 2002. The team has experienced early success, including playoff appearances and two AFC Championship Game appearances in their first five seasons. The Jaguars were one of the quickest expansion teams to reach the top seed in their conference, doing so by their fifth season in 1999. Despite early promise, the team has struggled since the 2000s, with only four playoff appearances since then. The Jaguars are one of the few NFL teams to have never played in the Super Bowl. The team is currently owned by Shahid Khan, who took over from the original owner in 2012, with Doug Pederson serving as head coach.
