The Indiana Pacers, based in Indianapolis, are a prominent NBA team, competing in the Eastern Conference’s Central Division. Founded in 1967 as an ABA team, the Pacers joined the NBA in 1976 following the ABA-NBA merger. They play at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and are named in honor of Indiana’s pace car and harness racing history.
