The Atlanta Falcons are a professional American football team based in Atlanta, Georgia, and are a part of the National Football League (NFL) in the NFC South division. Founded in 1965 and joining the NFL in 1966 as an expansion team, the Falcons have had a significant presence in the league. While they have reached two Super Bowls, they have yet to win a championship, holding the record for the oldest major professional sports team in America without one. Despite this, they have been competitive, with multiple division championships and playoff appearances. Mercedes-Benz Stadium is their current home, which opened in 2017.
