Paul Goldschmidt, born September 10, 1987, is a prominent American first baseman currently a free agent. Known affectionately as “Goldy,” he has had a successful MLB career with the Arizona Diamondbacks and St. Louis Cardinals. Goldschmidt was lightly recruited from The Woodlands High School in Texas, later playing for the Texas State Bobcats before being selected by the Diamondbacks in the eighth round of the 2009 draft. He debuted in 2011, quickly establishing himself as a power hitter and skilled defender. A multiple-time All-Star and Gold Glove winner, Goldschmidt has also proudly represented the United States in international play.
