He turned professional in 1988 and retired in 2002, with 14 Grand Slam singles titles, including a record seven Wimbledon championships. Sampras held the world No. 1 ranking for 286 weeks, a record at the time, and finished six consecutive years as year-end No. 1. His remarkable achievements include two Australian Open titles and five US Open wins. Known for his powerful and precise serve, Sampras earned the nickname “Pistol Pete” and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007.
