Manchester United was founded in 1878 as Newton Heath LYR Football Club, and changed its name to Manchester United in 1902. The club is based at Old Trafford, a stadium often referred to as the “Theatre of Dreams,” and has won 20 English league titles, 12 FA Cups, 5 League Cups, and 3 UEFA Champions League titles. Known for their attacking style of play and nurturing some of the game’s greatest talents, such as George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United has a global fan base and a commercial prowess that makes it one of the wealthiest and most influential clubs in sports. Despite recent challenges and a period of transition following the retirement of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, the club remains one of the most popular sporting entities in the world.
