Joel Embiid, born on March 16, 1994, in Cameroon, is a 7-foot (2.13 m) professional basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers. After playing one year of college basketball at Kansas, he was selected third overall in the 2014 NBA Draft. A dominant center, Embiid has earned seven NBA All-Star selections, five All-NBA Team honors, and three All-Defensive Team nods. He is also a two-time NBA scoring champion and was named NBA MVP in 2023. In 2024, Embiid secured a gold medal with the U.S. Olympic team, cementing his legacy as one of basketball’s premier talents.
