A standout amateur, he won a bronze medal in bantamweight at the 2005 World Championships and was named 2011 Prospect of the Year by The Ring, Sports Illustrated, and ESPN. Known for his blistering hand speed and precision, Russell remains a key figure in the featherweight division.
