Frenkie de Jong, born on May 12, 1997, is a Dutch footballer who excels as a central midfielder for Barcelona and the Netherlands national team. Renowned for his vision, passing, dribbling, and technical skills, De Jong is widely regarded as one of the world’s top midfielders. He began his career at Willem II in 2015, but his move to Ajax the following year marked a significant turning point. At Ajax, he played a key role in winning the Eredivisie and KNVB Cup and reaching the Champions League semi-finals. His performances earned him the Eredivisie Player of the Season award and a transfer to Barcelona in July 2019 for €75 million. De Jong was also named to the 2019 FIFA FIFPro World11. He made his senior debut for the Netherlands in 2018 and has since represented them in the UEFA Nations League, UEFA Euro 2020, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
