Filming for The Devil Wears Prada 2 is currently underway, giving fans plenty of snippets of the returning and new cast members, their glamorous outfits, and an intriguing new twist in the story. The cast of the highly anticipated sequel just got a new addition—Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs has a new love interest in The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Adrian Grenier’s Nate Cooper, Andy’s college boyfriend, is out, which was not surprising as the first movie ended with Andy and Nate going their separate ways, pursuing each of their own careers in different cities. And the confirmation that Grenier will not be returning in the sequel, per The Hollywood Reporter, confirms that Nate and Andy’s love story ended for good.
Instead of Grenier, Anne Hathaway gets a new love interest in Patrick Brammall’s character, which has been kept under wraps. However, on July 21, 2025, shortly after reporting that Grenier won’t be part of the sequel, Entertainment Weekly shared the news of Brammall’s casting, and he will reportedly “play the new object of Andy’s romantic affection.”

Patrick Brammall is an Australian actor and writer who created and starred in Paramount+’s romantic comedy, Colin from Accounts. He also appeared in New Girl as a guest and starred in several TV shows like No Activity, Glitch, Call Your Mother, and Evil.
What is The Devil Wears Prada 2 going to be about?
The Devil Wears Prada 2 continues the story of Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs as she ventures into the hectic and cutthroat world of high fashion after joining Runway magazine with a dominating boss, Miranda Priesly (Meryl Streep). In the first movie, Andy faced competition from fellow assistant Emily (Emily Blunt), but the dynamics are changing in the sequel.
Compared to the glamour of the first movie, where Runway is at the height of the industry, print media is declining. Miranda Priesly is now tasked to do an impossible task of keeping the magazine thriving, and she needs advertising dollars for that—lots of them.

Unfortunately, her former assistant, Emily, is now the high-powered executive for a luxury group who can give her that money, and they’re not exactly on good terms. Most of the details surrounding the sequel have been kept under wraps, but it could also incorporate plot points from The Devil Wears Prada book sequel, Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns.
As expected, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt will return to their roles, and so will Stanley Tucci as Nigel. Besides Patrick Brammall’s casting as Anne Hathaway’s new romantic partner, Kenneth Branagh was also cast to play Miranda’s husband alongside newcomers in the franchise like Lucy Liu, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Rachel Bloom, and more.
Other cast members expected to return, per People, include Tracie Thoms as Andie’s BFF, Lily, and Timor Feldman as Irv Ravitz, the chairman of Elias-Clark.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 will hit movie theaters worldwide on May 1, 2026.
