If you’re dropping into ARC Raiders post-Shrouded Sky update, the arena has fundamentally changed. Embark Studios has tossed out the old playbook and introduced two heavy-hitting mechanical nightmares: the Firefly and the Comet.
If you want to complete your Weather Monitor System Project, you need to survive these encounters and extract their exclusive loot—the Firefly Burner and the Comet Igniter. Here is your definitive, inverted-pyramid guide to shutting down these new ARC threats before they send you back to the lobby.

The Short Version: Know Your Enemy
To succeed, you have to treat these encounters like distinct tactical match-ups.
-
The Firefly is a heavy aerial striker that uses a flamethrower to melt your shields at close range. Strategy: Use hard cover and destroy its thrusters or fuel line.
-
The Comet is a homing demolition tackle. It’s a rolling bomb that locks onto you and explodes. Strategy: Keep your distance and use heavy explosive crowd-control to destroy its core before it detonates.
Here is the quick scouting report on both targets:
| Target | Threat Level | Primary Attack | Key Weaknesses | Guaranteed Premium Drop |
| Firefly | High (155 HP) | Short-Range Flamethrower | Thrusters, Core / Fuel Line | Firefly Burner |
| Comet | High (150 HP) | Kamikaze Seismic Explosion | Central Core | Comet Igniter |
Part 1: How to Ground the Firefly
The Firefly is essentially a heavily armored, very angry Wasp sporting a tiny metal “hat” and a devastating flamethrower. If you get caught out in the open, it’s game over.
The Play-by-Play Combat Strategy
-
Seek Hard Cover Immediately: You cannot out-dodge the flamethrower. The moment a Firefly swoops in, break line of sight by ducking into a building or behind solid environmental cover.
-
Target the Rotors (Thrusters): The Firefly relies on four rotor fans to stay airborne. Strip the armor off the front to expose the forward rotors, or shoot out the exposed rear rotors. Breaking the fans destroys its balance and drops it out of the sky.
-
Exploit the Fuel Line (High Risk/Reward): Look for the yellow connection running between its main body and the flamethrower nozzle. Hitting this fuel tank triggers a massive, instant-kill explosion.
-
Bring the Right Gear: The Anvil assault rifle is your MVP here for sustained armor-breaking damage, while the Ferro acts as a brilliant anti-air alternative. If you want a quick out, toss a Seeker Grenade—it acts as a heat-seeking anti-air missile and will usually knock the Firefly out instantly.
Where to Farm the Firefly
Unlike the Comet, the Firefly ignores weather conditions and rockets down from orbit to join standard Wasp airborne patrols. They can even spawn in massive indoor caverns like the Stella Montis Lobby or Loading Bay.
Best Farming Spot: Drop into the Dam Battlegrounds. The airspace above the swamp areas and the Hydroponic Dome Complex is practically swarming with them. Ensure you loot the mechanical husk quickly to grab your Firefly Burner (and potential bonus ARC Alloys and Powercells) before third-party raiders crash your extraction.

Part 2: How to Defuse the Comet
The Comet is a completely different ballgame. It plays aggressive man-to-man coverage, locking onto you and rolling at high speeds to deliver a lethal seismic boom.
The Play-by-Play Combat Strategy
-
Do Not Let It Detonate: If the Comet gets close enough to trigger its self-destruct sequence, you take massive damage, and worse—you lose the Comet Igniter drop. You must kill it before it blows itself up.
-
Use Wolfpack Grenades: A well-placed Wolfpack Grenade is an automatic one-shot kill on a charging Comet. Always keep one in your inventory when farming them.
-
Stun and Execute: If you don’t have a Wolfpack, throw a Showstopper Grenade to stun the Comet mid-roll. Once it is paralyzed, unload your primary weapon directly into its exposed Core to finish the job.
Where to Farm the Comet
Comets are elusive under normal conditions. To hunt them efficiently, wait for the new Hurricane map condition, which drastically increases their spawn rates.
Best Farming Spot: Head back to the Dam Battlegrounds, specifically around the Research & Administration Building or the Hydroponic Dome Complex. Successfully dropping a Comet yields the coveted Comet Igniter, along with a chance at high-tier crafting gear like Advanced ARC Powercells and Crude Explosives.
