Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has already circled the 2027 NBA All-Star Weekend on his calendar. The two-time MVP confirmed he plans to compete in the 2027 three-point contest, setting his sights on matching Damian Lillard’s historic achievement.
Curry made the announcement during an All-Star broadcast after watching Lillard capture his third career three-point contest title. With that victory, Lillard joined an elite group of shooters to win the event three times, and Curry now wants a chance to reach the same milestone.
Stephen Curry locks in 2027 return to the 3-point contest
Curry revealed he is fully committed to taking part in the 2027 edition of the shootout, making it clear that his participation is already planned.
The Warriors guard said he intends to make the contest a star-studded event, naming several high-profile shooters he hopes will join him. Among the players he mentioned were Lillard, former teammate Klay Thompson, and Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker.
The announcement immediately generated buzz around the future contest, especially given Curry’s reputation as the greatest shooter in NBA history.

Curry’s commitment comes after Lillard secured his third three-point contest crown, becoming just the third player ever to reach that mark. Before Lillard, only Larry Bird and Craig Hodges had accomplished the feat.
Bird won the contest three straight times from 1986 to 1988, while Hodges captured three consecutive titles from 1990 to 1992. Lillard added his name to that exclusive list after victories in 2023, 2024, and 2026, the last of which came while he was still recovering from an Achilles injury.

Curry aiming for exclusive three-time winners club
Curry is already a two-time three-point contest champion, having won the event in 2015 and again in 2021. As the NBA’s all-time leader in made three-pointers, he has long been considered the face of the contest.
By committing to the 2027 shootout, Curry is giving himself a chance to join Lillard, Bird, and Hodges as the only three-time winners in the history of the event.
If he follows through on that plan, the 2027 three-point contest could feature one of the most anticipated showdowns in All-Star history, with some of the league’s greatest shooters sharing the same stage.
